Building Overview

This project is a modern, single-story residence situated on a steeply inclined seafront plot in Salamina. The structure is being designed to take advantage of the existing concrete framework, which will be modified and integrated into a contemporary architectural concept. The home features a unique configuration that harmonizes with the natural topography and maximizes the potential of the breathtaking seafront views while maintaining privacy from the street level.

Site and Orientation

The house is accessed from the street level, where the front entrance opens into a space that leads toward the primary living areas and a generous open-plan layout. The back face of the building is positioned toward the sea, taking full advantage of the panoramic views across the water. Large, expansive windows and sliding glass doors in the main living spaces create a seamless indoor-outdoor connection, framing the scenery and allowing ample natural light into the home.

Structural and Design Modifications

  • The project leverages the existing concrete structure, enhancing and adjusting it to align with the new, contemporary design vision. Clean lines, minimalistic forms, and carefully selected natural materials will highlight the architectural identity of the home, creating a seamless blend between the original frame and the modern modifications.

Living Room
  • The living room in this single-story seafront house in Salamina is envisioned as a simple yet sophisticated contemporary space, designed with functionality and aesthetic flow in mind. At the heart of the living area, a central fireplace serves as both a focal point and a spatial divider. Its placement allows the room to be naturally divided, creating distinct yet connected zones that enhance the functional layout of the space.

  • The terrace  is designed as a multifunctional outdoor living area, perfect for enjoying the Greek sun and embracing the coastal ambiance. This spacious terrace serves as both a BBQ and outdoor dining space as well as a serene relaxation zone, thoughtfully organized to blend leisure and entertainment in one cohesive area.

Bedrooms
  • Bedrooms are thoughtfully positioned along the street-facing side of the building to ensure privacy from neighboring properties. Since the plot’s steep inclination could potentially expose these spaces to street-level noise, an internal patio-garden has been designed as a buffer zone. This secluded patio includes a vertical garden or “flower wall,” offering a lush, green view that separates the bedroom area from the street, creating a tranquil oasis within the house. This feature provides a private outdoor space and a natural sound barrier, promoting a quiet, peaceful environment for rest.
